Carlos Albizu University

Monday, January 17th, 2005

Going through the logs tonight, I noticed a search for Carlos Albizu University that found its way to the Florida College Guide website. Wondering what school this was, I searched on the FCG site and found it under the University section. I then followed the link to the Carlos Albizu home page and to my amazement, the print was so small, I could not even make out the language it was published in. So, if anyone from Carlos Albizu University is reading…fix your website. I wanted to write something about it here, but your webisite is terrible.

Florida College Admissions

Wednesday, January 12th, 2005

The most stressful times for prospective college students is clearly during the college admission application process. It is funny that this is when most students snap under the pressure. Logically, students would feel the most pressure when they are taking classes in high school, as a student’s GPA is probably the biggest determining factor when gaining acceptance to a college. So, the moral of the story is, work hard during high school while having fun. Prepare for the SAT and ACT tests, if you will take any. And, write a great essay that only you would write for your college applications. Then sit back, relax and enjoy the rest of your senior year in high school.

Of course, many of you that are reading this, are probably saying, “I already am in my senior year!” Well, for those of you in your junior or senior years of high school you can still do well in your classes, and for many of you, this will still determine whether or not you gain admittance to that Florida school of your dreams. Prepare for the SAT with a good book or prep class and get some college essay help if you need to. Good luck.

I was planning on doing a bit of research on Southwest Florida, but it appears that their website is down right now, so I will have to come back and finish up later. University of South Florida

Friday, January 7th, 2005

One of my favorite parts of Florida is Tampa. Tampa is probably the most “northern-like” city in the state. If you are not looking for the full southern experience and want to live in Florida, Tampa may be for you. The University of South Florida is a University rich with tradition. If you are thinking about attending the University of South Florida in Fall 2005, here are some things you need to know:

In order for a student to be considered for Fall admission, undergraduate applicants must submit the following documentation to the Undergraduate Admissions office by May 1st, 2005 (postmarked):

1. U of South Florida application for admission
2. Nonrefundable $30 application fee
3. An official high school transcript
4. Official SAT or ACT scores
5. Official GED or TOEFL score, if applicable.

Notes on admission to the University of South Florida: Admission is based on a student’s academic performance in high school with certain high school academic units, a cumulative grade point average in those units as calculated by the university, and standardized test scores.

See our University of South Florida page for more information and website address.
